Ahhh. I remember this. I had little idea why I was downtown chanting “this is what democracy looks like,” high on 2nd hand tear gas, skipping school and wearing an Eddie Bower windbreaker. Nonetheless, It was an extremely exhilarating time in Seattle. It gave the people a VOICE. It stuck it to the MAN! And more importantly it gave all us hippy, slam poetry/rappers a bunch of ambiguous spiritual/lyrical content we would go on to exploit for the next couple years.
